What Is Foracort Inhaler 100mcg?
Foracort 100 Inhaler is a combination medication used for the long-term management of asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). It contains two active ingredients:
- Budesonide: A corticosteroid that reduces inflammation in the airways.
- Formoterol Fumarate: A long-acting beta-agonist (LABA) that relaxes the muscles in the airways to improve breathing.
Together, these components help prevent and control symptoms such as wheezing, shortness of breath, and chest tightness.
How Does It Work?
Budesonide works by inhibiting the release of inflammatory mediators, thereby reducing swelling and irritation in the airways.
Formoterol Fumarate acts on the beta-2 receptors in the smooth muscle of the airways, leading to muscle relaxation and bronchodilation, which eases breathing.
This combination allows for both immediate and long-term relief from respiratory symptoms.
Indications
Foracort 100 Inhaler is prescribed for:
- Asthma: For the long-term management and prevention of asthma symptoms in adults and children aged 6 years and above.
- Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD): For the maintenance treatment of COPD, including chronic bronchitis and emphysema.
